Trotting Up to the Final for Gordon Group RDA

Gordon Group Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA), has been shortlisted in the SEIB Insurance Brokers, Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Centre of the Year 2023 competition. There are 438 Riding for the Disabled Association (RDA) Centres throughout the UK, so to be in the top five nominees is a huge achievement for Gordon Group RDA.

For the fourth year running, SEIB are celebrating excellence in competition, teaching, training and horse care, and this year, Horse & Hound and British Equestrian have also come onboard. There are six categories best DIY Livery Yard, best Full Livery Yard, best LargeRiding School, best Small Riding School, and last but not least best RDA Centre.

Following public nominations and voting, the judges have decided on a shortlist in each of the six categories, including the RDA Centre of the Year in which Gordon Group RDA are placed.

Chair of Gordon GroupRDA, Fiona JD Pearson commented, “We are delighted to have been shortlisted for this very prestigious award. We believe our RDA Centre is very special in a number of ways, not only do we support over 60 RDA clients each week, both children and adults, to enjoy horse-riding but we also offer Equine FacilitatedLearning (EFL) sessions, which are unmounted ground work exercises, designed to allow our RDA clients to interact with ponies to focus and improve life skills”.

She continued, “We are also introducing ‘Tea With Ponies’, this Summer, where groups from other charities, care homes and schools can come and spend time patting or grooming the ponies before enjoying tea, cake and a chat. Another project which has just begun is the building of aSensory Trail, which will be used by our RDA clients on foot, in wheelchairs or on horse-back, a great opportunity to explore the surrounding countryside and wildlife”.
